Justice League: Alternate Model Of Villain Steppenwolf Has More Alien Features

Both the DC Comics films, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition and Justice League featured the villain Steppenwolf, which was a complete CGI creation. While Steppenwolf served as the main antagonist in 2017’s Justice League, the character made his first appearance in a short scene with Lex Luthor in 2016’s Batman v Superman. Later on, for Justice League, Ciarán Hinds voiced the character and brought it to life by playing the role wearing motion capture suit.

Creature designer expert, Jerad S. Marantz, recently took to Instagram to share the video of an alternate model that he created for Steppenwolf’s character in Zbrush digital sculpting software. You can check out the supervillain’s alternate look in the video posted below.

From what we can see in the alternate model and the details provided by Marantz in the description, it looks like the early CGI version of Steppenwolf used for Batman v Superman was initially considered for developing on the same model for Justice League as well. This alternate version also has features which makes Steppenwolf look more alien than the final model.

Unfortunately, neither did the final version receive praises from fans and critics as many consider it to be one of the worst CGI villains.

In more news, Another DCEU fan re-created two Justice League scenes using Junkie XL and Hans Zimmer’s Superman score in the background. The scenes in question feature Batman and the Flash when they come to aid Wonder Woman as she fights against Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons. You can check out the videos below.

Warner Bros. and DC released Justice League last year with much fun-fare. But, unfortunately, the film’s performance at the box office was not as expected. Despite having a slew of fan favorite DCEU superheroes including Ben Affleck’s Batman, Henry Cavill’s Superman, Amy Adams’ Lois Lane, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller’s Flash and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, the film failed to impress the audiences.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League garnered a total global earning of $656.6 million. The film ended its domestic box office run last week as the lowest-grossing movie of the DC Extended Universe.  Made on a whopping budget of $300 million, it just earned a total gross of around $229 million at the domestic box office.

Justice League is currently available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack, and DVD. The only DCEU movie line up for the current year is Aquaman which will premiere on December 21, 2018.
