Pacific Rim Uprising director Steven DeKnight has his own options when it comes to the actor who he thinks should play Batman in a STARZ television series. The fact that the STARZ Batman series is nowhere in pipeline does not stop fans from coming up with their choices for the show.
In reply to an ongoing Twitter discussion about a hypothetical Batman Starz show, the writer/director noted that while there are many choices for the role, he has one specific actor in mind and that’s none other than Jon Hamm.
“Hmm, so many choices,” DeKnight wrote on Twitter. “If it’s an older Batman, Jon Hamm would be great.”
There are rumors that Hamm is eyeing to take over the role of the dark knight from Ben Affleck in Matt Reeve’s solo Batman film. In fact, according to a report that was published on Radar Online late last year, Hamm, despite having a good friendship with Affleck, is pretty much interested in playing Batman.
“They’ve enjoyed working together and have been on good terms ever since,” the report read. “But Jon knows Ben has faced some criticism over Batman v Superman and Justice League, and frankly things he’d be better suited for the job. This is business for Jon, not personal.”
Notably, DeKnight, who is currently busy giving shape to the Pacific Rim sequel, even has some interesting choice even for the role of The Joker opposite Hamm. In his opinion, Walton Goggins would be a good option for the role.
“Tough one. If he’s Hamm-age appropriate, Walton Goggins would be interesting,” the Pacific Rim Uprising director wrote on Twitter.
DeKnight is known for voicing his opinions a lot and interacting with his followers on Twitter. Earlier, the director made news for his comments on Man of Steel 2 and for showing interest in working for Marvel again.
DeKnight’s current main focus is his upcoming film, Pacific Rim Uprising. A new international trailer for the film has been released recently. The film, which stars Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s John Boyega, is scheduled to hit theatres on March 23. You can check out the new trailer below.
